Pile point reinforcement for Rabobank, UtrechtReference project: new construction for Rabobank Headquarters in Utrecht
Description of the project: The construction for the Rabobank Headquarters in Utrecht has a deep cellar under most of the building. The walls of this cellar are made from diaphragm walls that go to a depth of 19 metres below ground level! A problem with the construction was the adjoining plot with foundations of prefab concrete piles at a depth of 12.5 metres below ground level. During the creation of the diaphragm walls from ground level there was a 19 metre deep open trench just a few metres from the foundations of the neighbouring offices. To prevent subsidence of the adjoining property B&W Grondinjectie transferred the support of the foundation to a depth below that of the diaphragm walls using water glass injection. In this way subsidence of the adjoining properties was reduced to almost zero during the construction phase. |
